Reporting on Sexual Violence in Conflict: A Practical Guide (Dart Centre Europe, 2022)

Sexual Violence in Armed Conflict

This practical guide helps journalists, filmmakers, editors and media professionals report on conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) safely, ethically and accurately.

Developed in 2022 by Dart Centre Europe with support from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office’s Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict Initiative, the resource provides eight evidence-based principles covering preparation, survivor interviews, informed consent, trauma awareness, journalist wellbeing, storytelling and ethical visual reporting. It is designed to strengthen survivor-centred, trauma-informed reporting practices while reducing the risk of harm.
