Developed with the support of UN Action against Sexual Violence in Conflict, this practical toolkit strengthens the capacity of health, forensic, legal, investigative and social service professionals to respond to sexual violence in conflict-affected settings. It was produced through a collaboration between the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) as part of a project on strengthening medico-legal services for sexual violence cases.
The toolkit provides concise, field-oriented job aids covering key topics such as survivor-centred approaches, ethics, coordination among service providers, documentation of cases, forensic medical examinations, evidence collection, child-sensitive approaches, victim protection, and investigation processes. Designed specifically for low-resource and humanitarian contexts, it supports efforts to improve access to justice while prioritizing the health, safety and well-being of survivors.
This resource is intended for professionals working across health, forensic, law enforcement, judicial, social services and coordination sectors who are involved in preventing and responding to conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV).
