This narrative version of the Matrix of Early-Warning Indicators of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence provides detailed explanations of risk factors, contextual indicators and possible prevention and response actions. Developed by UN Action Against Sexual Violence in Conflict, UN Women and the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict in 2011, and organized across six thematic pillars, (military/security, social/humanitarian, political/legal, economic, media-related and health), the matrix helps practitioners anticipate risks, strengthen prevention efforts and improve preparedness at local, national and regional levels.
