This provisional guidance note explains the relationship between the Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Arrangements (MARA) on Conflict-Related Sexual Violence and the Gender-Based Violence Information Management System (GBVIMS). It outlines principles, safeguards and operational guidance for safe, ethical and survivor-centred collection, management and sharing of data related to conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV), including recommendations on confidentiality, informed consent, verification standards and inter-agency coordination. Developed in 2015 through collaboration among UN Action members and partners and GBVIMS stakeholders, the guidance supports stronger prevention, protection, reporting and response efforts in humanitarian and conflict-affected settings.
