This open-access publication brings together the proceedings of the Nice Symposium on Conflict-Related Sexual Violence (CRSV), held at Université Côte d’Azur (Nice, France) on 25-26 January 2024. The symposium, entitled Combating Conflict-Related Sexual Violence (CRSV): Normative Frameworks and Operational Action, was the result of a unique institutional cooperation bringing together Université Côte d’Azur, Bibliothèques Sans Frontières (BSF), and the Office of the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict (OSRSG-SVC).
Drawing on contributions from academics, legal experts, practitioners, policymakers and civil society actors, the publication explores international legal frameworks, accountability mechanisms, access to justice, prevention strategies, survivor-centred responses, and multisectoral approaches to addressing conflict-related sexual violence.
Edited by Jean-Christophe Martin and Patrick Weil, the volume includes chapters in both English and French and contributes to ongoing efforts to strengthen knowledge, policy and operational responses to CRSV worldwide.
