This visual evidence brief presents key findings from adolescent consultations conducted in Kachin and Rakhine States, Myanmar, as part of the broader effort to understand the drivers of violence affecting adolescents in humanitarian and displacement settings. Drawing on participatory consultations with young people, U-Report data, and national datasets, the publication explores the factors influencing school violence and bullying, intimate partner violence, migration, substance abuse, and help-seeking behaviours.
The resource, available below, was developed under the UN Action Against Sexual Violence in Conflict (UN Action)-supported project UNA059 (2019), implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), which strengthened evidence generation and adolescent-centred programming to prevent and respond to violence in conflict-affected communities. The findings informed practical recommendations for governments, UN agencies, civil society organizations, educators, service providers, and community leaders working to reduce violence against children and adolescents in Myanmar.
