This resource documents Jordan’s experience developing the National Action Plan (NAP) 2018-2021 for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security (WPS).
Developed by UN Women and UNICEF through the UN Action Against Sexual Violence in Conflict (UN Action)-supported project UNA042 (2016-2019), the publication captures a successful and inclusive national process that brought together government institutions, civil society organizations, the security sector, media representatives and local communities to advance the WPS agenda, while providing practical tools, templates and lessons learned to support other countries developing or strengthening National Action Plans on WPS.
The publication, available below, also demonstrates the value of sustained collaboration between UN agencies, national institutions and civil society in building inclusive, locally owned peace and security frameworks that contribute to gender equality, protection, prevention and sustainable peace.
