Sexual Violence in Armed Conflict

The Berkeley Protocol on Digital Open Source Investigations provides international guidance on collecting, verifying, analysing, and preserving digital open source information for investigations into violations of international criminal law, international human rights law, and international humanitarian law.

Developed in 2022 by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the Human Rights Center at the University of California, Berkeley, the Protocol supports investigators, accountability mechanisms, civil society organizations, journalists, and human rights practitioners in using digital evidence in a legal, ethical, and secure manner.
