Addressing CRSV: An Analytical Inventory of Peacekeeping Practice (2010)

Published in 2010 by the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM, now UN Women) and the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO, now part of the UN Department of Peace Operations, DPO) on behalf of UN Action Against Sexual Violence in Conflict, this analytical inventory documents emerging peacekeeping practices to prevent and respond to conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV). Drawing on field research and operational experience from UN peacekeeping missions, it examines practical approaches ranging from protective patrols and community engagement to security sector reform and civilian protection. The publication highlights lessons learned and provides a framework for strengthening peacekeeping responses to sexual violence in conflict settings.
