The present Report covers the period from January to December 2013. During this period, sexual violence was reported by displaced persons to have been a significant factor motivating their flight. During flight and while displaced, civilian populations continued to be vulnerable to sexual violence. In the context of prolonged and repeated displacement, effective mechanisms to prevent rape and other forms of sexual violence are often absent or limited.
