The Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED) has been requested by the Security Council to address the links between terrorism, human trafficking and sexual violence in several resolutions, including resolutions 2331 (2016), 2388 (2017), and 2467 (2019). In accordance with this mandate, CTED raises relevant issues in its dialogue with Member States, including as part of its country assessments; makes relevant recommendations for technical assistance to be provided with a view to strengthening Member States’ capacity to address the links between terrorism, human trafficking and sexual violence and assist victims; and provides analysis of the latest trends and developments in this area to members of the Security Council and the wider counter-terrorism community.
